Practice area near the clubhouse again just basically sand to hit off. The San Lorenzo Golf Course was opened in 1988 and takes advantage of wonderful topography on the Quinta do Lago estate, winding its way gently over undulating pine woodland. The fact that this is an award-winning course is no coincidence. As you get to the 7th, life is by no chance made easier but you still get the bonus of the outstanding views from this elevated tee before you have to focus on how to get around that green almost entirely surrounded by water. The jaw-dropping beauty for which San Lorenzo is famed is revealed on the tee of the par-3 5th. After the 5th hole, a par-3 and the course's shortest, you're introduced to a dogleg, stroke 1 sixth hole where your main challenge will be to avoid the dense shrub, so make sure you get your distances just right. 2023-05-13

So to cut a long story short: We, me and my sister, were enjoying our stay so much, that now we are dreaming to go back and we definitely will. Turning away from the water and back towards the clubhouse, the tee shot on this hole plays uphill and doglegs from left to right.

A big dogleg left, stroke index 1 hole with the Atlantic ocean running alongside. The dinned was good, but do not dine there two nights in a row. Theres a serene tranquility to this course and the beauty of the surroundings seems to bring out the very best in every player. Just 15 minutes' drive from Faro International Airport, the hotel is in the heart of the Algarve's famous Golden Triangle.

The 10th is a quality start to the back 9 and needs a brave drive across two lakes. Fairway and green conditions average. The cart paths are absolutely dreadful though, and a few tee boxes and the driving range are not level. It was many years ago ranked as the second best course to play in Europe.
It makes stunning use of the beautiful Ria Formosa estuary on which it sits and provides one of the most memorable golf challenges in the world game. The approach is to a large green so check your yardage carefully.

I know this is not usually a 20something year old female type hobby, but I used to play on the varsity golf team in high, I love golf! Greens slowest I have played on all year and some of the fairways no longer have the finer grasses they used to have. A friendly lady tried her best to put a smile on it, but judging by the letter of disgust that was recently sent to us, its best to not beat the locals at their own game We have chosen to send back our awards and never return, which is a shame, as we were just about to book a stay for the entire family!More. We won the tournament, but that's when the trouble started.

This year was my second stay at the the schlosshotel and I can say, as s frequent traveler in 5 stars hotel, that no where you will find such a nice hotel.
In comparison to the greefee you pay the quality was poor. The course has been very good in the past, it is now unfortunately now not as good, there were no buggies available, despite pre booking in advance. David Stubbings

One of the most stunning tee shots in golf. If you want to have a pre round warm up, there is a small range and a putting area as well as a great clubhouse with a large outdoor terrace to fuel up before you head out. This is the perfect hotel for travelers looking to enjoy a world-class experience in an historic setting. The long hitters wont need driver here unless they are trying to cut the corner and go for the green. Once youre around the corner, you can see the green, and the small bunker to the right of it. 390 yards of brilliance. The course has now turned into a sublime showpiece for the Algarve.

Apparently our score was not acceptable (we had a great round) and we were made to feel like liars and cheats by the club management.
The fairways were poor with sections having apparently suffered from disease and struggling to grow back. Two pretty holes to finish with water playing a large part in both. Reachable in two for the longer hitters, the hole rolls gently from left to right where you must avoid the strategically placed bunkers along the fairway. The tee shot itself is demanding with trouble both left and right. The place is truly historic, beautiful, and well maintained, and the staff are generally very friendly and helpful, with only few exceptions, when they are a little passive on unorderly.
