When all the doubts and uncertainty of doing something new come up, it's such a relief to have someone who is knowledgeable and knows her stuff and is with you in that process. Thousands of dollars and tons of hours, I had no clients for the record. I really do believe that. You had to make a shift. You address this in the book so beautifully, and I think its really important to kind of note it here is theres no new ideas out there. She didn't just send the podcast and leave it at that. And you have a list of excuses and I guess theyre reasons, but I look at them as excuses that so many people think are valid as to why they couldnt possibly try. Now, lets talk about the New York Times bestselling author because I think a lot of people want that and should want that for their book. What do you have? So just to own a business, I dont have the education, I dont have the ability to get on camera like Brooke does, I wouldnt even sound intelligent. So Amy has to sell, she would like to, the numbers that she wants to hit is like, 10,000 books. She has a concise and bulleted style of answering questions. And so many games you lose at, and you lose, and you lose. But also, you only need a sliver of the internet to pay attention to make bank and make a big impact. And the reason I bring this up in the book, and in the book I talk about what you need on a website, lets not get fancy, no bells and whistles, lets just get it done. It covers a decade worth of research, on life-changing topics from the podcast, distilled into only 200 pages. You make the time. Brooke: Okay, so just briefly tell us about who those two women are because I dont want - they need to know what big deals they are. Ive seen people spend THOUSANDS on courses that either didnt get finished or. Her own digital courses have grossed millions of dollars. And it doesn't end there because all of you who listen to me and are affected by me and are changed by me started because one of us, one of us humans, one of us women entrepreneurs did her job. Most people wont start because their ego is too big and they want to be great right out of the gate because theyre great at something else. Shes not that much older for the record, but shes my big sister who puts it out there and I freaking love you for it. Amy, you're the best. Its how we were trained to think. Inspiration, tough love and encouragement, both from me and from your fellow creators, in moments of doubt or uncertainty. Brooke: Listen, if you feel like you can relate to what shes saying, its because this is what we were trained. Youve lived the life of many of the coaches that you serve. I had all these ideas and could not wait to put this program out there, but I just didn't know where to start or how to put all of the pieces together to create a course. So its very, very confusing how they even choose. There is now, and you should totally take advantage of it. I had already purchased B-School, I had already gone through B-School. They talked about they got to call the shots, they worked when they wanted, where they wanted, they were making tons of money, and a lot of impact doing tons of different things. So I think in my industry with my peers, I think it could mean something. And that is what I'm asking you to do. My first podcast is about why you aren't taking action. Alright, well, Amy, you are going to be a New York Times bestseller. Meaning you dont need 100,000 clients to make a lot of money. So then I went over to Pat Flynn's podcast because now I'd listened to podcasts, clearly, and I started listening to The Smart Path to Income podcast with Pat Flynn. So she had to put her ego aside and say, okay, my capacity for zero, this might not work, Im starting out with zero. So why do we do this? I didnt. It was all men at that main table and I took notes, and all I heard from them was freedom. And I just was like, "I just want to hang out with Amy Porterfield and see her in person and talk to her" and it was super fun and they taught an amazing class, and afterwards Amy's like, "Hey, before you leave I just want to say something to you", and so I waited and then she's like, "Hey, I just want to let you know that I love your podcast.". And somebody replied and said, This hard sales, what did she say? And so, I said, "What if we went all in on this business and like took it where we could take it? And on that podcast, she mentioned briefly, Pat Flynn, and she said, "Hey, if you don't know Pat Flynn, you got to know Pat Flynn." Thats why I do videos when I dont feel good. Youre not going to get it right away but it will come. Those big, badass course creators and social media influencers would have you believe that putting together an online course and getting sales can happen in a weekend. They dont have time. But amazing course, highly recommend it. Not that many people care." You can help take stuff off their plate, and thats how we started. Amazing. Should I just quit? He brought in these internet marketers and he said, Tell me about your businesses. And I was brought in to take notes. But I asked him, I said, What do you have as a 22-year-old that people that are older than you that have money dont have? And he said, Time. He has time. Over the last 13 years, I've noticed some recurring patterns when it comes to those who bring their digital course dreams to life and those who want . And thats why a lot of people dont start. And the feedback I was getting is we dont need another weight loss book. She basically talks about the decision to want to be an entrepreneur, and then the decision to leave your job and how to go through that process, which so many of my students struggle with. And I think thats the beauty of entrepreneurship. And I asked everyone, what is your favorite excuse? I listened to her podcast and then she referenced a resource, Pat Flynn. You cant be great when youre brand new. All of us have 24 hours.. And I think I said to her, "You know, you're the reason why I even have a podcast." And I think another reason to have your avatar, to know who exactly youre serving dialed in and have this virtual emotional relationship with her is any time - and I know this is probably true for you too. It doesnt have to be that way. Were doing them on Zoom for a reasonso you can share your screen, show Ivey your challenge, and resolve it immediately so theres no bumps in your course creation path.
